When I bought my original system back in 1999 home theater was the priority and music was a close second.  Now, music is my priority and home theater is a distant second.  Here is what I have now (the receiver was upgraded about a year ago and the sub was upgraded a few months ago due to new size requirements in a new apartment):

Amp:  Sherbourn 5/1500a 200w

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_7_3/sherbourn-1500-amplifier-9-2000.html

Receiver:  Marantz SR6005

Speakers:  Monitor Audio Silver 9i

Subwoofer:  HSU STF-1

Now that music is more of a priority I'm considering switching to a two channel system.  Physical downsizing is another concern so I was also looking into something that would reduce components and component size (the Marantz and Sherborn are quite bulky).  And, the product that made me start thinking of this was the Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum Tube Integrated Amp:

Would purchasing this integrated amp be an upgrade in sound quality compared to the products I have now?  Are there better options in the same price or lower?

Thanks!

I am not familiar with the integrated amp you are looking at but I can say that switching to a dedicated 2 channel system will give you an improvement in sound quality with music. You have to spend a lot of money to get a receiver or pre/pro that will be good with music. The Marantz- Sherborn combo you have been using is better than most at its price point but it won't compete with an integrated of a similar price.

Thanks for the input.  Any suggestions in the $2000 range?  I do like the idea of tube gear.

I thought I would also add that my source is a Rega RP3 and most of my listening is vinyl.

I love the Line Magnetic tube integrated amps for the money. The one I have is within your budget. Here is a link

I have posted a review on Audiokharma.com and here at AC.
