Bryston BDP-1 memory running at MAX or over?
« on: 12 Apr 2013, 03:50 pm »
Hi James,

Sorry for all the various questions but I came across this website just the other day-fantastic!

Great support through forums is just another reason to buy Bryston...really awesome.

My question, can I upgrade the RAM in the BDP-1? I believe this would really help functionality overall...

Currently I am using a Copland CTA-305 preamp with a 14BSST with the BDAC-1 and need to shut down regularly...to keep tube life.

It takes a really long time for the BDP-1 to completely boot and catalogue my music... approx 600GB in FLAC.

I have already updated the database and set the drive to be written to...still takes a long time to completely boot.

See attached picture of Services running.

Can upgrade the DDRAM myself?

Once it has loaded the library once it will remember on turn-off and be ready for play immediately when restarting.

Hi

Sorry the memory in the BDP-1 isn't upgradable; however that type of memory usage is normal due to how the OS functions.  Keep in mind it's not your off the shelf operating system and doesn't work entirely like your a stage desktop OS.

Cheers,
Chris
