IC: Mastersound Compact 845 SET amp SOLD
« on: 30 Mar 2013, 01:34 am »
SOLD.  Interest check on my Mastersound Compact 845 amp. This is an integrated (with remote volume control); however, I've used it's 'direct' input with a tubed preamp almost exclusively.   Great performance & condition.

I'm not sure I want to part with this amp, but I'm trying some Thor Audio PA 30 mono's, plus Gordon Rankin is building me a custom 45 SET with headphone & speaker taps, and I don't need 3 tube amps  :o.

This amp is very heavy and shipping won't be cheap--I have a wooden crate that the dealer made and shipped it to me in, so it can be shipped safely. The iron/transformers on this thing are huge & heavy!!

Probably looking in the $2500 or so range, depending on tube complement (it uses pairs of 12au7s, 6sn7s and of course the 845 output tubes).

Thanks,

Randy

Bump!!

I have one- this amp it's fantastic!
I use it with Zu Audio Druids....my jaw dropped when i hooked it up- most people who come for a listen can't believe the sound- the musicians are in the room with you.
I have had a few set's and they simply did not compare- and I'll include names like Cary etc (Cary's SET still great but not quite at same level)

Mastersound is famous in the industry for their transformers and started out as a high end supplier for other hi end brands- and that's why the amp is so heavy- the iron they come with you will not find elsewhere.
The quality behind all mastersound products is outstanding- relay selector and RF remote.

If anybody out there is looking for a SET amp this is the ad u should look at.

If you buy this you will never look back.

My 2 cents anyway....

potentially interested ... was looking for an Allnic T-1500 300B based integrated but I did own a Viva Solista 845 years ago and loved it!

Thanks guys; amp has been SOLD.

Jeff, right now another AC'er is considering an offer that I've presented him; if he decides not to purchase, I will let you know if you like.

Best,

Randy
