Tube Watts and differences in Ohm impedence

Technical Query here:

What is the equivalent of 120 Tube Watts to SS in 8ohm.  Same question except for a change to 4ohms.

How different is the experiences you have had with presentation using the different settings on the speaker terminals?

Very curious to understand and digest the technical and musical differences the effective load has on the Amplifiers and or the sound.

Thanks for looking.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.

This varies between each amp, there is no fixed rule, tube Watts appear to be stronger than SS.
Tube amps had less power in 4 ohms and more power in 8 and 16 ohms.
SS amps are the opposite of it.

read also about speakers up there.do not bother to buy the recommendations for a speaker but theory is good. I could make some improvements in my system by changing tne binding posts from 8 to 4ohms.!

Thanks for the link!  I'll read through it today.

Anyone else have other good links to reference?

Thanks

A good read. I suppose the one thing the author could address is no NFB solid state amps, but this seems to be a much more recent trend.

So there are amplifiers without feedback in solidstate ,i thought it was not possible in solidstate design. Where did you see it?
