Hi

Yes it does but all the drivers are made custom to each specific speaker - we do not just use the same 8 inch driver from one box to another (as some do) as we custom make the driver for each cabinet.

I consider matching drivers a selling point when building a home-theater and is very key that the L, C an R channels are as close to being identical as possible.    Why the change-up?

All the same drivers in different cabinets would be matched drivers but not necessarily matched sound. Drivers behave differently depending on the cabinet they are in. By changing the driver, Bryston are more likely to have a L C R that are as close as possible.

yes.. I should have said it's important for  L, C, R speakers be as close to identical, in all specs (cabinet, drivers, crossover, etc), as possible.

What is critical is the polar response and power handling in a surround setup must match.

When it comes to individual speakers the box and the drivers (woofers) have to be designed specific to the cabinet - so the motor assembly the magnet structure, the surround compliance etc. must be considered if you want to optimize performance.
