Newbie Question....
My Escient VS-200 died again and will not have it fixed (again).  I will miss the concert DVDs I had stored on it and the ability to watch DVD.  I also used the Escient VS-200 to store and play back multi-Channel 5.1 DTS Surround Sound DVDs.  For example, I bought the Genesis box set which provided CD/SACD and DVD DTS audio copies of each album.

I've placed and order for a BDP-2 and should be on the way (after back order issues clear).  I have my 2channel CDs all ready ripped to .FLAC files with artists and albums sorted into folders.

I've been reading this forum and I see that you can use DVD Audio Extractor to rip DVDs to .FLAC files.  Does that mean I will get 5.1 Multi-Channel Audio in a .FLAC file?  Does the BDP-2 read and play back Multi-Channel Output?  I plan to connect the 'digital coax' connection to my Rotel Surround Sound Processor along with by BeL Canto DAC.  Will I be able to use my new BDP-2 connected to my Rotel Surround Sound Processor to play back 5.1 Mutli-Channel Audio?

Thanks

Yes, I have successfully ripped 5.1 DVDA to .flac.

Although you will get sound, it will only play Left and Right channel.  You will lose C, LF, SR, and SL.  It does not down mix to stereo.  I recommend an Oppo player.  I listen to 5.1 flacs via the Oppo's HDMI to my SP3.
