Raising large monitors slightly on integrated stands (tiny spikes)

I own Eggleston Works Fontaines. They look like floor standers but are actually large TMM monitors which sit on integrated stands which are boxes near same size as monitors.

It has been suggested that I insert Audio Points (three tiny conical-shaped, .3" total when sitting on coupling disk) between the monitors and their stands. I am reluctant to do this as an experiment due to the amount of effort involved (speakers are heavy as well as stands which have 25# lead shot inside; very difficult to re-wrestle back into place on the Sistrum stands).

The obvious, though likely rare, question is: has anyone done this before, and to what result?

1. Otherwise, ignoring Audio Point technology, do you think un-integrating the monitors from their stands might cause an obvious issue with the sonics? After all, I assume they were designed to fit together surface to surface.

2. Is .3" of space enough to adversely effect the sonics?

What is your opinion please?

(Robert of Star Sound has suggested I do this. I admit that everything he has suggested to date has made improvements to my system. Its just that I nearly busted a nut getting the darn things well situated on the Sistrum points and prefer to not go through that again if no return on sweat investment.)

Large B&W's and Vandersteens have used dedicated short stands for years, you're not weird or wrong.
