I have wondered the same thing. My iTunes was inadvertently upgraded to version 11. Though, Pure Music seems to play the albums with out a gap, when I use Memory Play. But, I am not sure if a specific album was tagged at Gapless when I previously played that album in iTunes 10.....Edit: I am just not sure. While playing in Pure Music, the " Loading Music into Memory " screen appears between every song. That would not appear when an album of songs tagged "Gapless Playback" in iTunes 10. So now I feel, in iTunes 11 it is not set to Gapless by default as some pages online are stating. Even Pure Music's FAQ is not clear. I don't have any classical albums that has continuous pieces divided into tracks to test if the gap is present.
Also, I suggest that you edit your topic subject to read 'Gapless Play in iTunes 11 missing' or similar. That may get more responses.
