A/V gurus....

I am looking for a HDMI switch box, which seems difficult to locate. I may be using the wrong search words. There are many 2/3/4/5 HDMI-IN with 1 HDMI-Out switch boxes. But I am looking for 1-in and 2-out, selecting between the two. I am calling it "Reverse". Maybe the diagram below helps to describe the desired configuration.

I want to have a direct connection from the Cable Box to the LCD TV, keeping the Surround Sound system out of the loop. But when using my new projector I want to have the Cable Box connected to the A/V Receiver. So either the TV or projector will be on, there is no desire to have both TV and projector on at the same time. Right now, I am manually plugging in the HDMI cables into the desired display--a pain.

So what is this HDMI box called? Any recommendations on Brands/Models?

Thanks for any help.

If one HDMI input is to feed two HDMI outputs all the time they're called HDMI Splitters.  If you want to select one output or the other (or both) they're often called HDMI Matrix Switches with the number of inputs X number of outputs, such as "4X2 HDMI Matrix Switcher" (4 inputs X 2 outputs).

Monoprice sells an assortment of HDMI Matrix Switches; here's a 4X2 with remote:

and here is all of their available models:

Thanks much Steve!!

Matrix was the keyword that set me straight.  I am seeing at least two 4x2 matrix switches at monoprice. Also, now I see some seemingly pro switches at $1000+ as well, I am not going there though.

cheers, ed

Judging by your pic you need an HDMI splitter and not a switch.  You would use a switch to select between multiple sources to one display.  A splitter will allow you to use the one source on two displays.  The matrix switcher is for using multiple sources selectable between a certain number of displays where a 4X2 matrix takes in 4 inputs and allows you to select any of the 4 to 2 different displays.  Splitters are cheap.
