Total and utter bullshit. Obviously this video was slowed down in order for the effect to look crazy. All thats happening is the hose is oscillating back and forth at 24 hz in slow mo. If you look close enough at the supposed 'reversal' effect at 23 hz you can see the water splattering on the pavement in reverse as if (gasp!!!) the video were played in reverse! Are we supposed to believe that suddenly water reverses flow at 23 hz and some how reenters the hose despite the water pressure and gravity working against it?

Don't believe anything you see on the Internet people.

I stand corrected, what we are actually seeing is a camera filming at 24fps and its syncing up with the 24 hz sine wave. Therefore it only appears to be unmoving because of the way the camera is filming. At 23 hz they are out of sync by one frame the it appears as though the water is flowing up. Just a consequence of FPS and frequency being slightly different. Either way it is merely a camera trick.

Oh my God the water flowed upwards into the hose!!

Hey Pez - it's still an interesting effect, isn't it? We've all seen it with turning wheels on film but even so. I think leaving it at 24 would have been enough.

(What it has to do with 8Hz... um, charles will have to enlighten us :) )
