External Optical Drives

Any suggestions as to specs or brands of external CD/DVD/optional BD players-burners for use as source for ripping? I need one to begin the process. No SACDs to rip, but does the DVD/BD burner allow for such things?
Thanks,

I just finished a major ripping project where I bought four different CD drives (two internal and two external), and this external worked like a champ:

Fast ripping and relatively few reading errors. It gets great reviews everywhere you look.
The other external I used (a Samsung 208), was not nearly as good.

Another option is an internal mounted in an external case. I ordered these two from Amazon just the other day (for ripping BDs with MakeMKV).

http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-5-25-Inch-Enclosure-Interface-NST-530S3-BK/dp/B0093HKFYW
Not particularly recommending this drive to you, just that doing it this way is an option.
Edit: Got the combo and they work fine together. Can rip a BD movie in roughly 20 to 45 minutes, using USB2 and a very old PC. Not bad.
Contrary to what's stated on the Amazon web site, my burner came with Cyberlink software (although I only used what I needed to update the drive's firmware).

I have used an Addonics external drive for about a year now and like it very much. It is solid enough that a slight breeze will not blow it off the desk top and has eSATA, USB3 & USB2 connectivity. It uses an LG labeled drive which does CD, DVD & Blu-Ray. Cost is just under $200.00. It is not that quiet but I only use it to rip or burn disc media.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I found a nib LG external 3.0 usb for a good price. If it burns out, I can replace it inexpensively. Haven't started ripping yet, but I hope there's low error with the rips. Many hours ahead.
