Hi DaveC113,
Got the cables in and they look and sound amazing. Replaced my Crimson cables with them and really like the sound with both tube and SS amps.
The cables are fast and very well balanced. I'm getting a clarity that I haven't heard with the other cables. Still breaking them in, but they are a winner. I even tried them with my Model 7F full rangers that will be in the DIY line. Really smooth in the mids.
Thanks,
Louis
I'm happy to hear it, the clarity of the mid to high frequencies is unmatched by anything else I've tried and what really stood out to me after I built the first pair. There's a lot of stuff (bad stuff) you're NOT hearing with these cables...
I haven't been able to test the ICs vs. some higher priced ones, but I'm planning on seeing if some of the high end audio shops in the area wouldn't mind trying them out. I was never planning on marketing the ICs, I've build dozens and never considered it, but after building these I knew I had something special. I may try some higher end RCA plugs at some point too, I feel like the Furutech plugs with occ copper center pins are a great value for the money, but it is possible to spend a lot more money on connectors.
The speaker cables are only 20g so maybe not suitable for high powered systems but they work great with my 5 wpc EL34 SET amp and Super 3s. Not sure about marketing the speaker cables given the fact they are only 20g, but I probably will because they are so good in the right application. I think that 20g wire would be great as internal hookup wire in your speakers too, I noticed a big difference using it with the Pomona binding posts I showed in the RS5 driver thread.
I put the ICs up for sale on ebay and amazon under "Dave's Cables" with a
really low introductory price of $115/1 meter, $99/ .5 meter... I can't keep the prices that low for long, there's little to no profit involved, I just want people to try them... Next I need to get a website set up, then probably need to pay for an industry membership here.
Thanks for auditioning the cables Louis, I appreciate it.
