Evelyn Glennie: How to truly listen

Another TED presentation...

Captioned; "Percussionist and composer Dame Evelyn Glennie lost nearly all of her hearing by age 12. Rather than isolating her, it has given her a unique connection to her music."

32:12 in length so good for a cup of coffee or two. I am grateful for what TED is doing. I'm learning something new and wonderful pretty regularly because of what they are doing.

I also recently saw this presentation by by Benjamin Zander titled "The transformative power of classical music". Loved it.

Evelyn's very cool, one of my favorite performances:

(anyone who plays with Fred Frith is cool). In case you go looking for the cd, the actual title of the song is 'The Walls are Loosening' on 'The Sugar Factory'

Yes she is. Not sure that I should have linked such a lengthy video but we'll see what comes of it.

I was moved by her performance at the end. The way she expressed herself on the vibraphone was fantastic. Is this insight as to how Beethovan could continue to compose after becoming profoundly deaf? At least I found myself thinking about that while considering what she wanted to say. Interesting.
