As the title notes, I'll need a little help tonight from a couple guys if possible. Phil is making a long trip from Indianapolis via Chicago to St. Louis today, and my back is still creaking considerably, so an extra couple of hands would be appreciated. The best part of a speaker's user education is how to set them up so they sound good, or their best, if the space allows, so this will be interesting.

If Phil makes it in earlier, and again when we host his demo session, will be excellent opportunities to learn  about his approach to building and integrating the Series 5s into a home listening environment. Please ring me if you can assist. My back (and I) thank you!

Dave

They are moved in, dialed in, and quite happy tonight. We have them running with a GAS Thalia solid state preamp, Monarchy Audio SM70 Pro amp, and Musical Fidelity XRay CD player, and they sound quite delightful.
Phil has been very helpful with some solid advice on setup and use,  and has given us an enthusiastic green light for setting up some public demo sessions.

A very big thanks! to Mark for coming over and helping to get these babies in the house and set up as well. I'm looking forward to some extended listening to hear these really sing.  :thumb:

Yikes, I missed this thread and posted in the wrong one!  It's good to see the speakers made it to SL in one piece.  Actually, four pieces technically.   Looking forward to hearing comments from the group. I love those speakers and look forward to opinions from the group.

Cheers

Jack

Makes them immediately available for added transplants and switching. Plus the jazz singer feels like she is in Rio during Mardi Gras.  :icon_twisted:
Here Phil is putting a little more gris gris mojo into the 5s. I think Mark will chime in at some time telling everyone they need to give these a listen. They can really bring some good stuff to the table.  :D

Hey Guys,
Make sure you clear your calendar sometime in the next two weeks to get over to Dave's house.  Phil was great to talk to about these speakers and we shook the walls with Brian Bromberg's version of "Mercy, Mercy"   WOO!  Bass response is quite good and is adjustable for those of you that like a little more meat on the bone.  I think Dave is looking for some more equipment to try on the Bambergs, with the possibility of Kent bringing over a Mac preamp.  The little Class A Monarchy were plenty powerful enough to drive the monitors, but I'd like to hear a variety of  bigger tube and SS amps.

Phil has made a generous offer to us, so get out of you man cave, get off the couch and go hear them.  Watch this space for Dave to host some listening sessions and (maybe) a session when Phil comes back to pick them up. If this GTG happens,  I think you'll enjoy hearing about his design and his experiences in audio. Really nice guy that likes to listen LOUD!!!!

Thanks to Dave for doing all the leg work on this and getting the speakers in St. Louis.
