Bamberg Series 5's available to GAS for two weeks - any takers?

I
may
be driving through the StL area this Wednesday, and then returning again the week of March 21. I could leave the Series 5 TMW speaker system with a club member for those two weeks.
http://bambergaudio.com/products/series5/series-5-tmw.php
Scott privately asked me about sensitivity. I referred him to more technical information on this subject here:
http://bambergaudio.com/technical/interpreting-specs.php
Note that tube amps are no problem, as the upper monitor is 8ohms and the bass range is actively filtered out below 150Hz. The subwoofer is self-powered.
Any interest?

I have seen and heard these speakers and they are amazing. From top to bottom, they are exceptional. Also, after owning Bamberg active subwoofers, it would be impossible for me to go back to passive three way speakers. Phil knows how to create exceptional bass response. Also, since the monitors are not required to produce any low bass, they are easy to drive.
These speakers throw a large 3D image and the monitors have a switch to help dial in the high frequencies to suit your room. Very flexible, well engineered design. I also noticed Phil has some series 2 monitors for sale on his site. These would give you a good impression of the Bamberg sound.
I hope you guys in St Lewis have a chance to hear these speakers. Bamberg is not a flavor of the month, but I don't know anyone who makes better sounding speakers. Phil is a perfectionist and his designs are meticulous.
Cheers

Completely agree Jack. Phil flies somewhat under the radar. Which is a real shame.
I had the pleasure of hearing his Series 6 speakers and they are "world class". Just wish I could afford a pair.

Come on, guys. Somebody say yes so we can play with these. Ideally someone centrally located and available for some listening sessions. I'll bring beer
I don't think I'm a good candidate for this because I live so far outside of town. But if Phillip isn't afraid of a few stairs and my guard cats, I'll be glad to demonstrate these for the two weeks. Because of my location, put me down as the last resort to show off your speakers to the GAS crew.

Hope it happens and you give us some feedback. There speakers are more highly engineered than most from all that I've read..

I will be coming in from the NE on I55. I can continue on either I44 westbound, or else I55 southbound. Either route gets me to my ultimate destination of DFW.
I am closely monitoring the weather. If the incoming snow storm makes travel treacherous on Wednesday, then the offer is rescinded because I will just leave Thursday. But I will not make a final decision until late Tuesday.
Thanks!

Unfortunately I've got my hands full and won't be able to host the Bamberg's. Besides, I'm not sure 5 whole watts will do them justice
How about one of the new guys? Any takers? This is a great way to hear some quality speakers in your system, in your room. Sure, you'll have to host a small group or two over a weekend or so but you don't get a chance like this very often

Just caught up with this thread. I guess I'm somewhat centrally located. I'd be happy to house sit your speakers Phil if no one else wants to. I'm right off of I-44 just east of I-270. It will be fun to hear dynamic speakers once again since I've been hooked on Maggie crack for way too long. I have Class D and solid state Hafler gear but I'm sure someone could bring a tube amp by also.Well then there's my Dynaco ST35
Thanks for the offer on behalf of the Gassers.

Phil, I can host them if Steve doesn't work out. I am three minutes off of I-55, one exit east off of 270/255. Just about everyone knows where I am.
My basement man cave is an effective 13ft deep x 14- 18 Ft wide, if that will work.
I'll pm both Steve and you my cell number. I don't know how I missed this thread.

Phil, I can host them if you want. Scott, Kent, and the other usual suspects can vouch they will be tucked in bed properly during their stay. I have a good selection of modern and vintage tube amps, a Monarchy Audio SM 70Pro, and a Musical Fidelity CD player and a Pioneer PL540 with Shure V15 as sources. If you didn't get my PM, give me a ring at 314-651-9396. I can set aside a five hour block for tomorrow to make sure we get them set up in the house.

Phil makes nice stuff, I've heard them at a couple shows over the years. Well engineered, smooth sounding.
Those Series 6's look nice. I'd love to hear them, see what somebody else does with the AudioTech mids.

I talked to Phil, and if the weather cooperates, we will be hosting some nice Bamberg Series 5s in the near future. In Phil's words....
Just got off the phone with Dave. I will try my best to pull this off, driving to Chicago Wednesday morning to pick up the speakers, and then head down to Dave's hopefully not long after sundown.
Phil
I'll need at least one person to help tomorrow at dinner time if possible, with the arrangements, setup, and jockeying. It will be easy if we infringe on my wife's living room(playing with fire,) or a little involved down in the basement.
Phil is also interested in hosting an in-person demonstration at some point, probably on a weeknight, so check back frequently to get any developing news.

Hey Guys,
Any news from the get together? I had that exact pair of Series 5's rocking my house for the past couple months and was sorry to see them go! My speakers are Phil's older MTM design. They are similar in character but the new design has some key improvements; better bass cabinet design, better imaging, and the newer design doesn't require the DCX so they are more user friendly. Lastly, the S5 speakers you guys are testing are much better looking than my speakers.
I'm looking forward to hearing about the session and the impressions of the St Lewis group. Bamberg is a well kept secret, but I can't name a single designer who makes better sounding speakers. The bass integration and imaging of the new series 5 is really special. I've only heard them with SS, and have always wanted to try them with tubes. Hopefully you guys had a chance to test them with tube amplification.
Cheers
