This amp has worked flawlessly for me and is in excellent condition (as you can see from the photos). It was assembled by an experienced builder and has never so much as hiccupped once. If your speakers are efficient enough--and I've used the amp with ones that are just 89 dB--this is one of the finest amps, IMO, I've heard.

Please note: It has the volume control bypassed, so works as an amp only. I ain't no solder slinger, but my understanding is that you simply remove or put in a resistor to restore the volume control. I've heard the Zen with and without the volume in place, and I prefer the sound with an active pre driving the sucker (which also permits more than one source to be used), but that's between you and your soldering iron.

Comes with a nice set of SV83s (the good kind, with the large logo), a Sylvania 5Y3, and a sweet 6N23P. I'll also throw in a brand new pair of Sovtek EL84s for you to play around with (the ones in front of the tubes photo).

Comes with copy of manual, including the schematic.

$400 plus shipping and Paypal (3%). For $425, I'll include a new pair of SV83s and a pair of unused NOS golden-grid Soviet military 6N15N-EBs from the early '80s (the two pairs of tubes in back of the photo), an RCA 5U4 to try in addition to the 5Y3, and a NOS Sovtek 6922.

*SOLD* For an extra $50, I'll include the custom Decware wood base for the amp.

OPTION: I also have an SE84C supermodded by Eddie Vaughn, before he went on to build his Carina. Definitely an improvement on the stock, in a number of ways, but it also was quite a bit more expensive. Like the stock version, this one has the volume bypassed. Has a couple very minor cosmetic blems, but in very good condition overall. I'll sell this or the stock and keep the one that doesn't sell. The mods alone were $800, so price for the Vaughn-modded one is $700 and comes with a set of SV83s, a 5U4, and a 6N23P. I'll also include all the extra tubes listed above (except the 5Y3, since it uses just the 5U4). It's a killer amp, IMO.
