Based on the spelling of "labour", I am going to guess no.  :)

Ah, yes, should have spotted that despite English only being my 3rd language :)

Any reason not to go for the Hypex SMPS600 as a power supply?

No reason that can do, just thought if there are better power supply and it does not cost too much more as an option then yes i could consider other options.

too bad the guy that did mine doesn't like building them

i sent him the chasis, ncore, smps, iec,  binding posts and xlrs

he charged me 50 bucks to build each one and he provided the other hardware needed. took him 2 months between his other projects.

Haven't found anything provably better so far. The SMPS600 is designed to work with the nCores, after all.

the man is too busy building other on other sites, he only did it for me because i've bought many headphone amps from him in the past. Probably more of a favor then anything, he did take 2 months, but my bill was only 150 for 3 amps built, that is probably much less then any other builder around that charges hourly fees.

So he must actually have liked building them if he did it at that price :)

Wow! In that case 150 doesn't even begin to compensate his lost time :)

How long does it take average to build the whole unit if all the parts are available onsite?

Yes, if all you have to do is put together the parts. If you actually have to punch holes for connectors etc, it takes more time, and same thing if you have to do any mods like changing the gain.

I took my time. Including creating the speaker connector cables, it was 5 hours. My chassis was precut with all the holes needed, which saved a lot of time. I'm not sure who sells precut and drilled chassis now.
