Not rock, but the performances from Shirley Bassey always are special to me:

Gee, I could provide a hundred links that I'd call favorite performances,  and SRV would definitely be represented in that list, but here's a contrasting style from another of my many favorites - David Gilmour.

The only link to this performance is off our camera on youtube so I wont bother you guys with it.  But we drove up to Little Rock Arkansas and saw Martin Sexton and Chris Trapper with maybe 50 of our closest friends on a Sunday night.  He did a "you say it I'll play it" and it was probably the best acoustics I have ever heard in a venue.  Martin and Chris Trapper hung out and signed everything and chatted with the fans after the show, truely blew me away.  He played a couple of songs with just a single omni mike and a sweet sweet sounding acoustic guitar.  It will be a long time until my wife or I top that show, and we see a lot fo them.

I've got many YouTube videos I think are fantastic.
The first one to come to mind is over two hours of High-def Joe Bonamassa, live at the Royal Albert Hall.

Put your seat belts on, and crank it up.  8)

These are some great clips...new music for me to explore. AWESOME

On the Allman Brothers stuff, I always said Duane was one of the most under rated guitarists in music. I must have played Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East more times on the turntable than any other album I owned. Yes those were the days... even with a crappy Garrard TT and Realistic speakers.

I was fortunate to see Duane live at the Hollywood Bowl, not much before he died tragically. One of the best concerts I had the pleasure of attending.

Hellofa concert and album.  The Allman Bros bassist is fantastic on this.  Great album of great musicians together and playing great compositions.

The bassist was Barry Oakley and he died almost exactly 1 year after Duane.  I agree, the whole band was chalked full of talented musicians.

My Memory is fading, it was at the Santa Monica Civic in October 1971 when I saw the Allman Brothers Band.  Duane died about 3 weeks later....In 1972 I saw the ABB at the Hollywood Bowl and Dickey played all guitar parts, including slide guitar and was amazing, even if a bit subdued.   Johhny Winter was also on the bill that night.

Barry Died on 11/11/72 and Duane on 10/28/71 both on the same road and both on Motorcycles...

Then came Derek Trucks, the nephew of Butch Trucks and is the reincarnation of Duane...

A smallish girl and her acoustic guitar. Kaki King performs for TED 2008

http://www.ted.com/talks/kaki_king_rocks_out_to_pink_noise.html

Not to be outdone ... Usman Riaz & Preston Reed

http://www.ted.com/talks/usman_riaz_and_preston_reed_a_young_guitarist_meets_his_hero.html

I've wondered what would follow people like Stanley Jordan and Michael Hedges.
The future looks bright.

I had the pleasure of seeing SRV in concert three times.  The first time I saw him, I had no idea who he was and hadn't heard any of his music.  He blew me away.  For every show, he came out rocking.
