this past weekend i thought i had blown a tweeter-right channel had distortion from the tweeter so i bought a new one. even with new one i get the same distortion , i swapped speakers from side to side and it stayed in that channel :o so i swapped cables - same :x next i swapped channels and the distortion follwed :?:

any ideas guys- can my cheap dvd player cause this ?i just ran a laser cleaner disc and no change.

If you swapped channels at the source, and the distortion followed, I'd say that your source is causing the problem if you also changed the IC for the distorting channel.

Hi Rosconey,

I recently had the same problem which you are describing.

I found out i had shorted out the right channel output stage of my amp and had to get it fixed.

dont think its the amp :o the distortion followed when i hooked the dvd up with channels swapped -rl, lr.since the distortion follows the right channel out from the player i'm going to grab a cheap player this weekend and see what happens-

probably a blown cap.  I'd have it looked at by a technician.

i guess my 60$ toshiba is takeing a poop :?
i just hooked up my other dvd player and it works and sounds fine :mrgreen:

Hi,

Your lucky that was the only problem, i had to have replaced a couple of resistors and fuses in one of the channels of the amp.

I now make sure i turn the amp off prior to swapping cables around.
