TB W8-1808 and Neo3w over H-frame Alphas
« on: 19 Feb 2013, 01:18 pm »
As much As I love my Beta 12LTA and Neo3-PDRW I'm back with the Tang Bands. This time using the B&G Neo3w, which is a better sensitivity match with the TBs. The nice thing about H-frames is their incredible flexibility. Once you build a pair you can continue to try different combinations for the tops. With the large Beta 12LTA I used "L" brackets from Ikea on the inverted T tops so they are easily collapsible and lay flat for easy storage. The wife doesn't object to my obcessive rotations as long as the unused combinations are put away in the closet she allows me to use.   :green:

FWIW, these are tri-amped using an active crossover. A SET drives the TB's, t-amp drives the Neo3's and Yung plates for the Alphas.

I used Ikea cork placemats on the baffle back.

I love the Neo 3, just wish you could build a Neo 10/New 3 in one package, stick it over an low end system.... Perfect.

I started usig your design now i have moved to different design but the idea is same...

if you want to get more sweet voice...try amping them with Ncore individually  and you will get amazed the refinement in sound that comes from these....

I'm now using Yung SD300's to drive the H-frame Alphas. These class D plate amps give more refined bass than the Dayton APA150's and according to PE use a 12db slope which is said to be a better choice for the Alphas.

I'm using the 2a3 Bottleheads to drive the Tang Bands and a Topping t-amp for the Neo 3w. The Yung plate amps are on the next to last shelf.

So those Yung plates fit directly into a Bottlehead chassis? Does Bottlehead sell the chassis stand alone?

Those aren't Bottlehead wooden cases. I built them from a pine board and added the Bottlehead medallion.

Why not make you own version of this design and mount the neo3 in front of the neo10?  Not dipole in the highs, but keeps the design compact

LOL, it's real.  BG Z-62 center channel.  No longer in production.  I bought on a clearance sale at the same time I made my open baffles with the Neo10.
