Good food doesn't have to look good but it certainly tastes better if it does.  A bruised banana tastes the same, but why do most people avoid the brown areas.

Back on topic though, who else has some good looking gear.

I bought my 16 year old daughter an old 70's Marantz tuner and Pioneer turntable for Christmas. She's an old soul and wanted to play vinyl. It really brought me back to those days when the Marantz look was way cool, and that rotating tuner wheel was the bomb and very different from the Onkyo industrial look.

My Tandberg TR2075 receiver from the '70s is a beautiful piece of work. I keep it in my office and it isn't even plugged in. It gets lots of oohs and aahs when people see it.

My harmon/kardon AVR 645.  I love the blue haloed volume knob at night.

The speakers are really nice, except for that ugly black base.

IMO, the speakers would look much better with aluminum outriggers like Thiel uses on their CS2.4SEs.

I personally like the black base better than the aluminum outriggers.  In fact, I don't like the outriggers at all. To each his own.

I've got a (recently retired) 645 also. For being a "off the shelf black box", that blue halo was pretty sexy.

Hi.
I don't care less how artistic or beautiful an audio looks. I care only how it SOUNDs!
Audio is for the ears. Good or so so looking can't make it sound better or worse.

Unlike food, artistic plate layout can increase one's appetite for sure.

Sorry, no show from me.

Appetite is not about taste, it's about hunger.
In your reasoning, aesthetic design of an audio component can increase one's appetite/hunger for music.  "Plating" audio gear add to the experience.  Whether it's worth it to you, that's another issue.

To me food, especially American food, is simply fuel, not an experience.  The woman across the table is REALLY the experience.  "Plating" the food simply keeps it off the floor and is simply a tactic for getting her to the table.     :icon_twisted:

YMMV, of course!   :thumb:

Well, there you go. Who says equipment has to be incredibly expensive for the manufacturer to spice up its appearance? That is a neat touch. Sorry, but I have to ask: Why didn't you post a photo of it lit up in a semi-dark room?

You just offended the person that built that "dress", and all other "dressmakers" with a comment like that.

I've never met a woman, beautiful or not, who doesn't appreciate it when someone notices her dress and gives her a complement on it. :)

True, but while we say that "that dress looks great on you" we really mean "HOLY SHIT!  YOU'RE HOT!  I promise not to wrinkle your pretty dress when I remove it!"

We just can't say that in polite company!
