TweeterDriver: Focal T120 Fiberglass inverted domeSource/Part Number: Discontinued Used in VMPS Models: Separate upgrade for: Mini Tower IIa, Tower II, Supertower/R, Supertower IIa/R...standard on same model SE and SE upgrade packagesReplacement or Original Driver: OEM Certainty: 100%, I worked for Brian and assembled speakers for several yearsNotes: Not to be confused with yellow Focal inverted domes employed later including T120K (Kevlar) and T90 models (smaller magnets). "SE" nomenclature depends on model and vintage. In earlier years SE is same cabinet as standard original square edge cabinets but with a certain mix of upgrades such as Sound Coat, upgrade tweeters, etc...later SE include much more deluxe cabinets, solid wood round-over corners, flush mounted drivers, upgrade tweeters etc...no SE cabinets for Minitower II. Late 80s early 90s source was Just Speakers in San Francisco or Focal USA Distributor.I have two Focal T120 woven fiberglass for sale for any reasonable offer, only fastened briefly to baffle, excellent condition, never abused. They sound much smoother than the similar looking Kevlar domes. Happy to answer any questions concerning production while I can still remember! Great job assembling this info, very impressive. Also have one HiVi/Beston small planar tweeter Brian employed in RM50, etc. I miss Brian very much. Midranges:Regular cone mids, all 5.25", 8 Ohm or 4 Ohm depending on the required impedance load, speaker model and number of mids employed Chronology: When I started working there mid-late 80s: Audax HIF13JVXCA12 (don't ask me how I remember the number, for its size its bass output is nothing short of incredible, even by today's standards) stamped steel basket/paper cone/rubber surround. Also Peerless poly cone/foam surround (sorry no numbers, can't remember the basket). Interestingly STIIa/R employed three Peerless in vertical line and one Audax up top and offset.Later: Brian's first-personally designed mid cone (Gefco manufactured IIRC), steel basket, poly cone, thick black foam surround, "A59X" IIRC, replaced all earlier conesLater: Brian hugely upgraded his own mid, still steel basket, poly cone, rubber surround, an absolutely fantastic mid range cone even by today's standards IMHO. I really wish I kept some of these. Replaced all earlier cones. Later: Among many firsts, Brian Cheney was first to offer Woven Carbon Fiber cones, offered originally as upgrade, Versa Tronics (purchased from Just Speakers), sorry can't remember the numbers but would recall if I heard them.Later: Brian purchased all remaining stock so-called "Dynaribbons" from Just Speakers, later replaced by B&G 8" planar magnetic drivers.
