Thanks for all the suggestions.  I finally decided on the Rogue audio cronus magnum version.  just hooked it up tonight, but roomate is sleeping, so higher volume tests tomorrow.

should I expect a period of time where the new tubes will improve in sound or am I up to speed after they warm up and the bias is set properly??  (like 30min?)

thanks!

If the tubes are brand new you should expect the most burn-in change within the first 20 hours, then a more subtle change within the first 100 hours than very little change after that.  I'd recommend monitoring the bias every 5-10 hours for the first 20-30 hours, then every 3-6 months after that.  The great thing about the Cronus is how easy checking bias is with the built-in meter.

Congrats!

And I would make sure the tubes are warmed up before setting bias. Say 30 min or so.
