Call it what you want to, I guess.
[begin rant]So.....What genre is Lyle Lovett anyway?Country? Gospel? Folk? Jazz? Doing Google searches for, "What genre is ______<insert artist name here>_______" doesn't help. Seems they make up nearly as many genre titles as there are artists. These compilation discs mess things up too. My OCD is driving me to drink (more).Cleaning up a library, making it "all nice and neat" is more difficult that it should be. Although, I'm running across (good) music I've not played in years, so that's the bonus. That's also the curse, because my cleaning process can stall when I run across a "new" find. It's taking forever. When I'm changing tag on large groups of files, I'm unable to perform other tasks within the program, so I come to the outside world for a change of pace. This is one of those times.Anyway....back to the task at hand.back later........... /rant]
Thanks guys. What does continue to pop in my mind, is that it is indeed my library, so I should be able to call it whatever I want. The biggest problem is when a musician spans several genres, that's the rub. And then there's Pink Floyd. I've never been sure what to call those guys. Plus, What do you do with Eric Clapton? He's been singing since before I was born, so the first thing that comes to mind is "Classic Rock", but the dude's still rockin, so his newest album that comes out next month certainly isn't "Classic". Oh well. I'm sure things will be clearer if I have another beverage and listen to some more tunes.Rock on Brothers and Sisters.
The link didn't have PF listed, but it did have Sid Barrett in there. Not a fan of the rest of the bands listed though. Most I'd never heard of.
Never was much of an Allman Brothers fan. When they were at their height, that wasn't the music I was interested in, so I wrote them off. Although, as the years go by, I've been finding myself liking music from people that I didn't like twenty years ago. I have also discovered they're playing some pretty decent music in elevators too.
