The great bop trumpeter passed away this week.

A great loss to the music world. First heard him in the '70s, and Electric Byrd is one of my favorites to this day. His music will live on, and hopefully inspire young horn players for years to come. rip Mr. Byrd.

A New Perspective has lately become one of my favourite albums. A truely original idea on Donald Byrd's part. RIP.

Not only a phenomenal hardtop player but his albums with the mizell brothers defined a signature sound. They are some of favorite records to play at parties. RIP
