My dream audio piece is...

Often wondered what I'd get if cost were not an object. Speakers would be very hard to pick from but an amp maybe two of these...

I'll bite. I guess it would have to be these mamma jammas... and a big ass, acoustically tuned room to listen in. 1,000-watt powered 15" sealed subwoofer, twin 9" magnesium-coned mid-bass drivers, a 7" composite midrange, a 1.5" dual concentric ring Revelator tweeter, and 5" aluminum pore ribbon super tweeter,

Uh, ok.

I give you the Von Schweikert Audio VR-9SE Mk II:

Then I'll power them with your crazy Japanese amps .

LOL
Those are nice speakers. I heard VS speakers many years ago in an Audio store that sadly is gone now. They were the best sounding speakers they sold at the time.

Eggleston Ivy's

http://egglestonworks.com/products/the-ivy-signature/

almost 800lbs each. This is one of the few >100K pieces where the price makes sense to me as far as all the materials and engineering into it, granite enclosure I think, drivers hidden inside, all that. Very cool looking. I would LOVE to have a pair of those...

Whoah dude. That's a pretty cool design feature, the isobarically mounted drivers, that's gotta be something to hear. Interesting look, too.

Yeah, spending over $100K on speakers is just tacky. The VR-9SE Mk II's are only $90,000, so you know, that's fine.  :)

Yeah, that IVY has 6 12" woofers per side on the low end (besides the 8 mids, per side). I would have to think these would be the epitome of no subwoofer needed.

...correction, 12 mids per side. Wow.

NICE!!

But I saved all me hard earned cash in the 80's for a pair of these, so I am not laughing!

Better: Magnepan 20.7
Best MBL 111f speakers
Either one I would go for Bryston 28B-SST2 amp pair.
Though if I really won big in the lotto i would also have a pair of Audio Research REF600 amps.
Audio Research 40th anniversary preamp.
SME 30 turntable
dCS Stack for digital.

Naturally i would have to listen to these things before purchasing them..

Without ever hearing them I would take a millionaire man's leap and get these. I cannot imagine I would not like them. Magico S5

My pick is the Von Schweikert Audio VR100XS system.  They're being unveiled at Axpona on March 8th.  Photo about 2/3 down the first page of this link...

A system, any system that can duplicate a full live orchestra or a drum kit. In reality a Yipsilon phono stage.

Probably the Serenity Acoustics Super 7, they are just about the best speaker I've heard:

I'd go with pretty much any Pass gear, but if we are dreaming, I'd go with the latest amps. Nearly 300 lbs each and $85k/pair.

Wow! I'm quite the newbie with this, and I simply lack enough background to make such decisions. Nonetheless, I just listened to a pair of GamuT M5 speakers two days ago. They were driven by a GamuT amp/pre/CD player. To date, the GamuT M5 speakers are the best I have ever heard. [but give me more time; I'm sure I'll hear better speakers in the future!]

I suspect the price total for the set would be under $40,000 with cables and interconnects included.

It would be a tough choice, but I think the full-blown Scaena speaker system would be my selection and I'd definitely drive them with the amps pictured, except they'd be VAC's new Statement 450iQs (the pre-iQ Statement 450 monoblocs are in this photo).

Regas upcoming "anniversary turntable". It may not ever exist, but I've loved all the Rega tables I've heard. Roy Gandy will probably knock the ball out of the park. Maybe if I can hit that lottery! 8)
