How Much of a Corner Do I Need?
« on: 30 Jan 2013, 10:42 pm »
As I face my speakers, the left one has a wall behind and to the side. The right speaker shares the back wall, but has no sidewall, as there is an opening to a dining room. I have the ability to construct at least a 2 foot wall on the side of the speaker.
Will this potentially improve bass response? Does this "wall" have to project out beyond the front plane of the woofers? It's actually not bad now, but I'm always looking to improve things...
Speakers are floor standing Acoustic Zen Crescendos.
Thanks for any thoughts.
I will try and post a picture or two if it would help.

Adding a short wall might help the bass a little, but it will not solve the larger problem which is a lack of symmetry on the left and right sides. Is there any way you can rotate your setup to have a wall on both sides? This short article explains the principles:
