ARGO - Where Is It!?

Argo was a movie I missed when it was initially released.  Even so, with it winning at every awards show it's been nominated in I thought I'd be able to catch it SOMEWHERE.  You'd think the powers that be would want to cash in on all the praise it's getting via the awards shows.  People like me and perhaps those who might be interested now who weren't than.  And if it isn't going to be re-released in the cinema, release it on Pay Per View already!

And what's up with the Academy Awards?  If I'm getting this right, Argo wasn't nominated in any meaningful category!?  I'd be curious to learn what Hollywood politics are going on behind the scenes, seems like Afleck may have stepped on the wrong toes somewhere!  Although with the movie winning all the acclaim it is, the Academy's the one that's looking like a dummy right about now.  Really would like to see this flick!

I don't know anything about the awards but I believe it is scheduled to come to DVD and Blu-Ray during the week of Feb. 19 which is 3 weeks away and I'd imagine it will make its way to pay per view around the same time.

I liked Argo but was surprised to see it in the Oscar hunt.  Frankly I didn't think it was Oscar good.  Still, very enjoyable with a lot of suspense (considering we all know how it ended).  Well worth a rental!

Like Phil said, the movie was released this week and I caught it On Demand.  It's a really good movie but much like Zero Dark Thirty (a superior film IMO) it falls into 'The Hurt Locker' category; a very good, watchable flick but honestly not one for the ages (was there anyone that wasn't surprised when 'Locker' one best film!?).

(was there anyone that wasn't surprised when 'Locker' one best film!?).

I was shocked as I bought it and saw it after it won the award.  I usually only get to the movies a couple of times a year.  I bought and saw Argo and while I'd agree it is in the category of Hurt Locker, I enjoyed Argo more.  Hurt Locker to me was just so built up (kind of like someone telling you that a particular restaurant has the best buffalo wings in the world and you go there and they are OK) that it was just a let down.
