Brian,

Since you have used both in your system, can you describe the differences between the 2 amps?

From what I read about the listening session yesterday, it sounds like you are currently using the SOA full range on the 40's.  Just based on the "stats" I never would have thought it could drive the 40's full range with good results.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Yeah, I'd like to get an answer on that too....

Plus, what is the price on a SOA?

Price of the Son is $3250.

The Son sounds cleaner and punchier than the monoblocks which have more bottom end, however.  This should change with elimination/bypass of the input selector toggle switch, which the Son lacks.  Bongiorno uses a pro-style bal/unbalanced auto-switching input that accepts phone plugs and XLR's.  He supplies a phone-to-RCA adapter which I recommend NOT be used.  Have your cable guy retip your IC's with good quality phone plugs.  Wayne at Bolder did a good job on mine.

Brian,

Have you tried running SOA on mid/tweeter and one the QSC amps on the woofers?

Sounds like it might give better performance than the monos and be cheaper as well.

George,

As an after thought, In speaking with James at the CES, I remember him telling me about the "adaptor" he had for the SON to allow the outputs to be adapted to either balanced or single ended.

I could be wrong, but I think he said he was thinking about doing the same for the A2K, which would eliminate the switch B is refering to.

Brian      What about soa for mid and high and mono for the bass? I ask because I have the mono.

So I repeat my earlier question...

Brian, have you tried the QSC on the bottom and the SOA on the mid/tweeter?

I can't afford to have $5500 bass amps.   :(

George, I wonder how the K2 would be on the bass?

I am going to find out over the next 5 days.

Since I haven't sold the QSC PLX3402 yet, I will try that as well.

Since both have volume controls, I should be bale to match the output of the Rowlands in a passive bi-amp setup.

From what I've heard the killerest setup might be horizontally biamped SOAs, $6500pr.  Depending on the source, with the SOAs standard 33k input, it might be better to order them with the optional higher input Z.

The three channel (when/if it arrives) + the SOA should fly off the shelves.

Jim,

I am not sure the SOA input impedance can be changed to higher than 33Kohms.  This has to do with the sharing of SE and XLR input.  This was one of the reason why the SE gain of SOA is stuck at 26db and cannot be change to 32db to match the Ampzilla2K.
