MPaD directory/file problem?
« on: 25 Jan 2013, 04:29 am »
Help!! I have been using MPaD with the BDP-1 flawlessly for a year now. I use dbPoweramp to rip my CDs, and I save the files to my PC. Files are then transferred over the home network to the BDP-1. The 240GB hard drive tethered to the BDP-1 is approximately half full, so there's plenty of room.

On MPaD, track titles have been displaying just as they should in each album directory by track title with no track number visible and they appear in proper ranked order. Now for the problem. The last few albums I have copied from my PC over to the hard drive on the BDP-1 have had some of the tracks (but not all) appear like this on the first line: 04  Doobie Brothers - Name of the Track Title. Album artist and album title appear properly below on the second line.

The majority of the tracks in these same albums appear as they should in the directory with Name of the Track Title on the first line and then album artist and album title below. In other words, most of the directory appears in the correct manner.

The other interesting thing is in those directories that are displaying in the different-odd manner, the album year appears with four question marks ????, rather than the four digit year.

All meta data seems fine when I look at the ripped files both on my PC and looking at the files after transfer to the BDP-1. Anyone have any idea why this is occurring? I am at a loss. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I use MPad daily and have not seen anything like that.  I would reboot the iPad and if that does not fix the problem then delete the MPad app and reinstall it from iTunes.  That should solve the problem.

Tried rebooting iPad and uninstall/reinstall of MPaD. Still same strange appearing track directory. Also reripped one of the CDs and saved to a thumb drive and plugged that in to BDP-1. Same problem. I am now wondering if I have a bug in dbPoweramp?

HI,

Ive found that checking for empty spaces in the file names helps. Funny characters were displayed in Max (not Mpad/pod), mainly question marks and squares, and deleting spaces (at the end) of the filenames/foldernames helped. Maybe a related issue?

Good luck,
Marius

Thanks for the replies. I am suspecting now (perhaps) that my change from v14.2 to v14.3 of dbPoweramp may be the common issue between directories appearing correctly in MPaD versus directories with bugs. I have gone onto the dbPoweramp forum to see if I can get some assistance there. All CDs ripped with v14.2 are just fine and I haven't changed anything with the BDP-1 configuration, so by process of elimination, I suspect a dbPoweramp bug since all CDs ripped with v14.3 have directory issues. I will report back. Thanks!!

Hi,
Could it be possible that default settings have been changed when you upgrade to the new version of DBpoweramp.  Have you check that all settings has remained unchanged.

As best as I can determine, the settings are the same. But I am going to check again. Thanks!

Got a fix!! There was a bug in dbPoweramp v14.3 that was causing the problem. If you're still using v14.2 you will not experience this issue with bad file directory. If you have upgraded to the current v14.3, you will probably have the same file directory issue that I experienced. There is a beta v14.4 that is available in dbPoweramp forum beta section on their website that you can layer over v14.3. That took care of the problem, so I am back in business now. OR, I also found that v14.2 was still on my PC in the restore files. So either way should work. But what a PITA in the meantime. But I still do like dbPoweramp, MPaD, and love my BDP-1.   :icon_lol:
