digital recorder that works with Mac

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this.
I am using my husband's account to ask a question.  Hope I won't get him in trouble
I am looking for a small digital recorder, maybe 1.25 " x 4.5", that I can use to record my spanish classes.  I want to then be able to download it to my mac, 10.6.8, and then put it on my ipod.

I recorded some classes on a sony 1cd p620 and found out it only works with pc.  I found that I can play then with a mini to mini cable directly into my mac and record them with Audacity but it is time consuming.

I went to amazon to look for a new one and saw an olympus I like. You can't download it to any computer.  I thought I would ask on the forum and see if anyone knows of one that would work.  Otherwise I will take the time and go through all the reviews and figure it out.

If someone happens to know one that works, that would be great.

What kind of iPod do you have?  If you have a 4G Touch it has a built-in microphone and you can record with the Voice Memo function given enough free space.  It will also automatically sync to your Mac.

Wow that was quick.  Thank you both.    My husband has an ipod touch 8G that he quit using.  I just need to figure out how to use it. If it works as easily that will have me from buying one.  I'll give it a try.

The built-in app is called Voice Memo.  I've not tried to record a lecture or class and you may or may not get good results with the built in microphone.  But give it a try as is, and if it looks promising you can (a) add a better external microphone to the headphone jack and/or (b) try another recording app from the iTunes store.  There are a number of free ones as well as trial ones that have more features and adjustability.

If you use the built-in Voice Memo, the memos can be synced to iTunes simply by checking "Include Voice Memos" on the connected iPod's Music tab which will automatically create a Voice Memos playlist in iTunes.  If you use a different recorder app from the iTunes store, it might require a few additional steps to synchronize them with the Mac computer.

Also if you have a Mac at school get a Bluetooth mic and record directly to Mac in either iTunes or iMovie. Can output just audio in whatever form u want. Jp
