I just got into computer audio a couple months ago after I found that it surpassed the sound quality of my cd player. What I'm hearing now sounds amazing and I think it will sound even better once I address the room interactions.
Here's my set up: Macbook Pro>Amarra>Empirical Audio Overdrive SE Dac>Pass Labs XA30.5>Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signature system speakers.
I'd like to take advantage of Amarra's eq to further dial in my system so that I can fix some of the room interactions. I do have some GIK room treatment (2 tri-traps and 1st reflection panels), but still have suck-outs and humps. To do this right I'm going to need a calibrated mic and software and maybe a preamp for the mic. I already have REW which is a free software program and I have a radio shack SPL meter that I used to get some rough ideas of what's happening in my room. I don't want to use the Rat shack meter for the EQ because it's not accurate enough.
What are people using for this? I'm looking to pull this off spending the least amount of money and getting high quality results. Thanks for any suggestions.
