Thank you Jerry, I'm pretty sure I had it in "Device Fucked Up" mode already and it hung after that, but I'll try it again.

I was going to gift the i20 to a friend who has a houseful of iPods but now I think about it, maybe he's still running an earlier version of iTunes that might be another thing to try.

I gave up on this, I think the iPhone has had it. It's had a hard life.
