McCormack DNA-250 - CANCELLED
« on: 6 Jan 2013, 05:07 pm »
This is the current model McCormack 250 wpc at 8 ohm, 400 wpc at 4 ohm, power amp. Excellent condition, both cosmetics and performance. Original manual, power cable, and shipping box/foam inserts included. This held its own in my amplifier search and shoot-outs until I tried Conrad-Johnson tubes. That's where I'm at now (Pr11A). If you are looking for solid state, this is one of the best you will find for power, dynamics, and smoothness.  It is built with quality and to last.  At 53 pounds, it is no lightweight.

McCormack was bought by Conrad-Johnson. It retains Steve McCormack's DNA architecture (see description below) while enhancing other circuitry with C-J design.

$1795 $1695 is a really good price.  MSRP is $3995, though it can be bought new for $2500.  This piece is as new as any used piece you will ever find.

Shipping within USA only. Since shipping from Alaska is a bit more expensive, I will ship for a flat $90 to anywhere in the first 48 states; contact me for shipping cost to other US destinations. Shipping by USPS Priority Mail or Fed-ex with insurance and signature confirmation. I will split the paypal fee if used.

The McCormack design team has more than a century of combined audio experience, and all of that has been brought to bear on the new DNA-250 power amplifier. While retaining the defining Distributed Node Architecture that contributes to the amplifier’s lightening fast dynamics, the DNA-250 incorporates completely re-engineered voltage gain and driver circuits. The resulting amplifier typifies McCormack’s value oriented approach, delivering near state-of-the-art performance at a fraction of the cost.

At 250 watts per channel, the DNA-250 has sufficient power to drive nearly any high-performance speaker system. The Distributed Node Amplifier architecture enables lightning quick current delivery and wide bandwidth. Bass is deep, tight, and articulate while high frequencies are extended yet smooth. Images are cast in bold relief, and there is seamless response across the entire spectrum. Pace and timing are accurately recreated.

Thanks geowak.  McCormack's are sleeper amps.  I've been surprised they aren't more widely followed.  Though those who do follow, are enthusiastic!
