OS-CONs in OZ

OS-CON also listed in some catalogues as "Solid Aluminium"

Good source is Rarefaction in Melborne (search the web) - limited range BUT excelent prices.

Sanyo SA Series and SH Series is available thru' Radiospares.
Full Sanyo range available thru' Farnell

Farnell appear to be cheaper than R.S.

CAUTION: OS-CONS are great for digital supply rail bypassing and other critical applications BUT they have two bad habits
1) They have NO overvoltage tolerance - exceed their voltage rating even momentarily and they WILL blow.
2) They blow Short Circuit.

I used to use them for cathode bypasses on the EL84 Output Valves of my little valve amp untill about the 4th time I spotted valve anodes glowing orange due to blown OS-CONs shorting out the cathode bias. I now use Blackgate Standards instead.

Try the Rubycon ZA/ZL series sometime, (if you can find them down under). They are lower in impedance and have a higher ripple current, I believe.  I use them in bypass and decoupling applications and they are awesome! I haven't had one blow yet. Thanks
