Were your records cut from a CD?

Here's an article about how some of our records are made :

Also, it seems like the trend for modern Lps is to receive a free digital download with each album. It makes me wonder if the music came from an MP3 file in the first place. Some of the new pop albums certainly sound like it. Do you have any of these records? I have a few.

It's good for us to list which records are worthy of purchasing and which ones are good to avoid.
There was a thread that did a bit of this awhile back...

Yeah, it's mostly probably pop, rock stuff. I can say Rush - Clockwork Angels  has a digital download from their website. It sucks! The LP is alot better, but I need to listen to it again.

Clockwork Angels gave one a choice of FLAC or mp3. The FLAC is lossless and pretty good. The mp3 downloads generally suck. Paul Simon's Graceland offered a free 24/96 download which is pretty good, better than CD quality.

Yeah, I wish there was some sort of standardized indication as to the source of the vinyl pressing. Like the one used in CD: DDD, ADD, AAD.

I automatically assume that any modern vinyl release of new material will have a digital master and digital mixing. So, I really don't care about them. But, on vinyl reissues of albums originally recorded during the analog age, I want to know that the reissue was not recorded from a digital file.

I find the complaints about vinyl from digital to be groundless.
Some vinyl sucked before digital too.
Of the many digital based Lps i own, none of the current ones have any problems associated with having beeen from a digital source.

I view this issue rather like the princess and the pea story. needing to find some excuse to grumble.. so the person can authenticate his/her 'true audiophile' badge.
"I can't sleep because there is a tiny lump fifty feet under the pile of mattresses.." I cannot listen to this music because a ways back in the recording chain someone used a format I dislike"

Same thing.
And if this post is considered too insulting or argumentative, please delete this post. Do not want to ruffle too many feathers.

I have plenty of records that are sourced from a digital format which sound very good. Some of the digital to analog albums that i have are my favorite albums. So that's not really the point. The digital records that bother me are

1.  the ones that sound like they were made from a lousy MP3 file (this can happen on a CD too)
2.  the ones that I spent big money on to get an analogue "master" on super duper vinyl

It's all a roll of the dice anyway.

Well, some bands want to sound like the music was taped on a 3" reel kids tape recorder in a garage. "Grunge". certainly aims for that sort of sound on purpose...
