running 4bsst2 in bridged mono
« on: 1 Jan 2013, 08:10 am »

James, please help

if i run a 4bsst2 in bridged mono (900watts @ 8ohms) will it affect sound quality or life of amp, as opposed to using a 28bsst2. the difference between the 2 amps is price and 100watts @ 8ohms. will the bridged mono 4bsst2 sound as good as the 28sst2 monoblock?

I don't think the quality will be equal, 28Bsst2 will definitively sound much better.
I haven't tried them but i had 7Bsst2 recently and they were brilliant amps.
Using 4B's in bridged mono is not the best option but it works fine anyway.
I have one bridged for my center channel (that will be replaced soon by a ML 436 mono bloc) and it is beautifull for HT...
If you can't go for a 28, i guess 4B's bridged will do fine...  or you might look for 7B's 8)
Personnaly, i would rather go for 7B's.

Hi

The 28B is a special amp - it will perform better than a bridged 4B.
