Hi.
Go big or stay home!

Talking about mega prices TT, here was my audition experience.

I've auditioned in depth a year back, Audio Note Japan "Ginga" in Audio Note showroom studio with mega bucked Audio Note Japan MMC tube phono-premp & tube power monoblocks. USD128,000 nett price is surely some astronomical price tag for any TT+MMC cartridge+tonearm+base system, right?

I was impressed sonically but definitely I am not rich & famous enough to own one.

Many years back, I had the chance to audition another mega bucked Audio Note Japan complete sound system in its regional rep's home (different models all together from what I auditioned a year back).
This super-expensive older model AN system did make me lost interest in my humble home system for a few weeks after I returned home. First time ever. What a super natural sounding system!!!

Yet this "Ginga" TT system with the AN new model phono-preamp & tpower amps did not impressed me so much like their older model counterparts. I still love my humble home system afterwards.

My question is: does mega price tags can warrant better or best sound? With my audition experience with the most expensive gear on this planet, Audio Note Japan, I am NOT sure.

So if you can't afford to spend $9,500 for a TT, keep on searching for better deals. No need to stay home.

Big buck systems usually just mean fat wallets and even fatter ego's!

Something to note about AN gear is that it sounds better over time.
Kind of like a fine wine.
In the waaay upper end AN gear you will find Black Gate caps, silver wires, silver transformers, etc....
These can take thousands of hours before they deliver the best sound.
Man, but when they are done running in, there is nothing better!
I too have had the "can't listen to my system" effect after experiencing mega buck AN gear.
