vibration damping blocks-can't find thread
« on: 24 Dec 2012, 05:32 pm »
Need some help gang.  A while back I saw a thread about some cheap vibration damping blocks.  These are the small blocks of sandwiched cork and rubber material that sell for big bucks on audio sites but the thread I saw had a link to a heating and cooling supplier that sold the same thing much more reasonably.  I can't seem to find this thread.  Anyone know the thread or link I am talking about?

S'mores, I bought 8 of them and they work ok but for TT isolation I prefer furniture cups and racquetballs.

Thanks GAB, I think that was it.  I also seem to remember another page where they were multiple layers of rubber and cork.  Think they may have even been blue in color too.

Mitsu,  Not thinking that the raquetballs would support a washer and dryer very well.

A friend of mine bought some isolation pads like I am describing but they are made of different layers of polymer or rubber materials and paid dang near $100 for 4 of them.

Thanks for the link Scott.  I'll check that one out too.

Well what if I wanted some... :P  And the purpose is to make the space more quiet so  :)

Plus, it can be fun to tell someone they overpaid for something.

Here's something interesting from McMaster Carr

or these

http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-vibration-damping-mounts/=kqi7gz

Either one looks to do (conceivably) a bang up job on vibrations  :thumb:

If you google "isolate it sorbothane" its the name of a company that makes sorbothane pads for cheap and you can buy off amazon. It seems to get good reviews, I've been thinking about puting some under my cabinet to stop vibrations from footsteps getting to the needle. They offer several sizes and thicknesses so you should be able to find what you're looking for.
