Hi all Audio Circle members that are interested in my weird projects.
A few pictures to provoke constructive criticism and/or to enjoy.
My V2CM (CM stand for : Completely Modified)
Red Ferrari H frame sub. woofers.
Cost 360 USD/pair from GR Research, plus made in Vietnam cabinets at 275 USD/pair.
Total 635 USD
(Not bad for a pair of good sounding sub woofers that don’t need critical placement in the room.
The high density foam does not make any difference and/or improve the sound,
but I leave it, because it looks good and I have nowhere else to store it.
Yes, the wheels should be replaced for spikes, but for now, they are indispensable to make it easy to move them from the listening position to the storage position.
Yes, it would have been better to have double walls,
but now it’s too late.
My very first trial and experimentation with extended range (full range) drivers (Audio Nirvana 8” standard from Common Sense Audio) open baffle.
I think I’ve paid 78 USD/pair a few years back.
The results were far from fantastic, way too shouty in the 2-5 KHz region, but the presence is awesome…
Can get everything for such a low price.
Cost of my first experimentation?
Nothing, zero…
Apart from the drivers, I had everything available in my house
or should I say, in my wife’s house.
I will soon or later continue my experimenting with the Dayton PS220-8 with a notch filter.
One of my two Rythmik/GR Research F12G sub woofers.
I like them, but I prefer my V1 and V2.
What I don’t like about them you will ask?
Not easy to position in the room, I find the V1 and V2 easier to position.
My Niteshade Audio 10 wpc pentode amplifier model NS-10.
Good sound, plenty of power to drive my 98db efficient V1
and 95db efficient V2,
but I do prefer my Decware SE84-C+ for the mids and presence.
At 2wpc, it’s still good enough to drive my N3M with only 90.5 db efficiency.
Of course for near field listening or small room with 85db listening level.
My vinyl source with a Rega Exact mm cartridge that feeds the Bellari VP-129 phono stage.
This is good enough for me, because I am not looking for the best of the best.

Those are my very good sounding speakers.
BIG and good.
Lots of deep bass.
(Awesome at playing the CD Fanfare for a common man.)
My V2M (Again, M for modified)
They sound good, of course,
if you don’t put them side by side with the V1.
Not expensive and good performers for the price.
Unless I am wrong, Danny does not offer those anymore.
Too bad for us and for him.
I’ve installed the woofers so both of them, are front firing.
I have tried both ways, reverse and like on the picture and could not ear any difference, maybe it’s my ears that are not good enough to ear the difference, but that’s O.K. I still like them like that.

Well, that’s what I have (Now);
maybe it’s more than many (Jr.) Audio Circle members have now.
I think I should consider myself lucky to have so much good audio stuff to play and experiment with and enjoy.
To conclude, the speakers I like the most are the N3 unfortunately I cannot really enjoy them with my better sounding amplifier the Decware SET 2wpc.
But, that’s O.K. with age; I don’t require as much decibels as when I was young.
