+1 ! And well deserved, too. Their last few albums have just gotten stronger and stronger. The songwriting is so much improved and the playing is tasteful without all the typical prog wankery. Clockwork Angels is actually showing up on 2012 Best-Of lists and for a band that has always been a target for much critical snark, that's really something.

Great to see Albert King finally get inducted too.

Sorry to insult you but you insult the topic by bringing PE into the conversation. They were a blip in music history, ironically hip "activist" music with ham-fisted delivery. In hindsite they were terrible. More power to you, though, whatever. Maybe Criss Cross gets in next time?

I think this is great for bands like Rush but I don't really understand the process here -- who gets to decide? Is it a fan vote or are there 'experts' on a panel judging the historical impact of a band, musician, or artist?

Congrats to Rush and their loyal fans! I was pretty shocked to hear the news yesterday. I know some of their long-time fans have been campaigning for this for many years. My favorite Rush albums are Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure. Each one totally awesome with Signals being my favorite (the MFSL remaster is incredible).

As someone posted earlier, the RnRHOF is a total farce, but it's the only game in town. I ought to start a competing organization and call it the "The Hall of Fame of Real Rock n' Roll." Rush would have been there long ago, while Madonna and Abba and the numerous others that have no business being associated with anything titled "rock n' roll" wouldn't be allowed within a 300 mile radius.
