Is this valuable or jink?
« on: 8 Dec 2012, 09:18 pm »
There are so many Circles here, I don't know where to start.  So I thought I would ask for advice.

Attached is a photo.  Thought maybe there is a chance that someone knows someone who might want this 'antique' part (for free). According to the repairman, this horn tweeter is broken. It is out of a Pioneer CS-A50 speaker cabinet from the late 1960s.  He replaced it with a different model because they do not make this one anymore.  I have no use for it, though.

I've seen the show, American Pickers, enough that rather than take this to the recycle place or toss it in the trash, I would see if there is an audiophile or collector that would love to have this for parts or to see if they can get it working.  All I would want would be reimbursement for shipping.  I live in the St. Louis, Missouri area.

Hey!

Those are not junk. They are pretty nice Alnico magnet tweeters.

You can test them by using AA battery, just connect - to - terminal and than touch the + side to the tweeter briefly, if they make clicking sound than they are still working... at least that would be a good start. Unless the they are really dead as the repairman said.  :?

If you have a pair of those and they are still work, I might be interested in them. :D

Take care,
