Help with downloading apps to Android
« on: 4 Dec 2012, 06:52 pm »
So...I downloaded an app from GooglePlay for my music. No problems, it looked lik it went fine. But there's no icon on the Android (Samsung Galaxy 10.1).
So after messing with it some more, I downloaded it a few more times. Never saw the icon, can't find it anywhere.

I gave up and thought it was the app. So I chose a different app, but this time I downloaded it via my PC, which is a couple feet away from the Android. The PC screen on GooglePlay says this app is compatible with my model number Android. This time, it's an app I have to pay for. The download goes fine, I get confirmation all is well.
The Android pops up a Gmail screen where my C/C has been charged the $2.99 for the app and the download has completed.

But still...no icon anywhere for either app.

I've downloaded two dozen apps for this Android, and none of them gave me a problem.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!
Bob

By the way, the first app was the Logitech SqueezeBox Controller.

The second app I tried is a third party app called Orange Squeeze.

Some apps create an icon on one of the home screens, others do not. You should be able to see them if you tap the apps icon, usually looks like a bunch of little squares.

If I tap the app button, I get two pages of app icons that are on the machine.
None look "unusual", or unidendified though.
...I can take pics, if it would help...

Thank you Mike.

Well...after a 254MG firmware update, everything I thought I knew about the device has changed. Everything is different and nothing is where I put it.
I now have those little squares you're talking about...althought the Squeeze apps still aren't in there.
I use to have things organized across the five "pages" on the Andriod, but now it's all gone. THe update erased four of the pages and put all my stuff in some "folder".

Bottom line, I guess I need to relearn how to use the unit and put my stuff back where it belongs. I thought I had one problem, now it seems I've got to put it back together first.
Everything about it is different since I started the thread.
