and that makes me feel a lot older!

Great story on Eddie VanHalen and his uncredited solo
on Beat It.

I didn't see this topic when I searched, so forgive me if it's a duplicate post.

I was always taken by the studio production and especially the Synclavier work.
I'm sure many didn't like the record, but to me it's a classic from the 80's.

Great record! I still have and play my vinyl copy a few times a year. My kids love it, and my wife and I started dating in 83 so we listened to it a lot in the car and on the beach back then. I remember when Beat It started hitting they mentioned Eddie Van Halen as soloist all the time, so he wasn't really un-credited, but maybe officially. Probably not paid as much as McCartney!

A close friend of mine from college was Rod Temperton's production assistant in late 80s, Rod took him to F1 Phoenix, then my friend told me how great F1 was and got me into watching it. Temperton invented the Thriller concept. He composed the songs Thriller, Baby Be Mine, and The Lady In My Life for the album. He also composed Off the Wall, and Rock With You.
