Bryston BDP Digital Player - MPaD Application
« on: 1 Dec 2012, 12:46 pm »
I'm new here and this is my very first post.

I curently own the Bryston BCD-1 CD player and I'm thinking of adding the all new Bryston BDP-2 digital player and Bryston BDA-2 external DAC to my Linn system.

Since my wife is not very "tech savvy", I need a digital player / streamer that uses a reliable / robust and easy-to-use iPad application.

So, to all BDP owners, how satisfied are you with the MPaD application?  How reliable/robust and how easy is it to use?

Thanks!

MPad is very easy, not only my wife but my eight and ten year olds have no problem at all. I have never, that I remember had it crash.

Cheers

Does MPaD run on an iPad Mini?

Sorry I have not tried a mini yet. I do run MPod on the iPod touches we have and that is even more simple and friendly as MPad.

Cheers

Another vote for Mpad, like alpha says it is very intuitive and easy to use, I can't see why it wouldn't run on the Ipad Mini as I'm pretty sure all Ipad apps just scale down to fit the smaller screen.

I actually think that the mini would make a better control tablet as I think the size is perfect to hold in one hand and is far lighter, it could be perfect.

Hi,
I made the jump. I ripped all my cds (dbpoweramp) and purchased a Bdp-1. I should get it in the next few days. I read several posts related to the BDP 1 and can't wait to get it set up. I will describe my complete setup in future posts.
Cheers!

While I'm sure the built-in BDP applications work for some, personally I couldn't be without the MPad App.

As a long time user of iPeng, a superb independent App for controlling the various Logitech Squeezeboxes, I have become used to the benefits of a fast, responsive, and above all *well designed* interface enabling me to quickly and easily browse my music collection.

If I were James, I would have bought the MPad App on behalf of Bryston by now as, for me at least, it makes the BDP a joy to use.

In fact my *only* regret is the lack of a 'by year' button which, coming from someone who's day job is 'UX' and 'web technologies', I would suggest is a compelling endorsement for the quality of the product.

MPad works very well. I'm using it with the other company's DFP an Auraliti.

It's really a very "civilized" way to bring up , browse & play any or all of the 650 dBPoweramp ripped CDs I have on an external USB drive or thumb drives attached to my player , from my IPad screen.

I was also able to bring up these files on an IPod Touch (in which case you use the MPod version which is a free app) , but I was spoiled by the nice big Pad screen so the Touch is only an emergency backup when I'm too lazy to get my IPad from another room I've left it.

Now if I could only find someone to bring my food & beverages to me while I've settled into my listening chair I would'nt have to get up for countless hours ! (Damn I need to get up to eat!) (it's dinner time here in Jersey)
