Two of the best I've heard, Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East, and Humble Pie Performance at the Fillmore East. Another I lick Robin Trower Live.

The Mothership Returns- Return To Forever (Eagle Records).  This is a new reunion disc if you didn't know.  At least I think it's new.  The Lonewolfny posted this not long ago and I bought it.  The sound is exceptional.  Violinist Jean Luc Ponty replaces guitarist Al Dimiola from the original group.

Yes,yes, yes! I saw them twice on this tour. The CD sounds soooo good. I almost don't hanker for a hi-rez version, but then I wonder how good would THAT sound?

My One & Only Thrill + Live in Paris Ep

The Live in Paris CD is only 5 tracks long and a little tame for my tastes but well recorded.

"International Guitar Night Two" recorded live at a concert hall in Alberta, Canada, I think w/o looking at the jacket (could be Vancouver) by someone we know and whose work is available still, the cat who just posted above . . Russell Dawkins.  Russell has also recorded live in Greece, etc.  Don't know about the availability of that recording and or any of his others but the aforementioned IGN recordings are works of the recording art.  You should hear these, there were two.  Check your sources and see if one or both, etc, are available.

Thanks for the mention and the samples, Jim and Chris.
For the record, it was recorded in a small theatre in Duncan on Vancouver Island, as distinct from Vancouver. Victoria, the capital is on Vancouver Island, while Vancouver is on "the mainland".  I never recorded in Greece, but a little east of there - Armenia; (see  http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/armenia/armenia.html). I also recorded the same conductor, different orchestra in Kiev way back - my favorite live recording - that 95 piece orchestra that still hasn't been properly released but awaits the proper alignment of stars, apparently. That recording is used by Bruce Swedien in his ribbon mic seminars as an example of good string sound . Bruce's recording career started with the Duke Ellington Orchestra in the 50s and includes Michael Jackson - he did Thriller - and is still recording to this day. A giant amongst engineers.

By the way, Jim, did I tell you I mastered Mark Murphy's last CD "Never Let Me Go"? Such a privilege I did it for free.

That Humble Pie Performance 2 album set should be played loud for proper enjoyment.
That is a good one.

I didn't know, but I'm glad he's in your hands and I'll have to give a listen for sure now.

The thing I like and respect about this recording the most is that it is live from an audience perspective.  The guys are just on stage in realistic proportion to the scene and you can pick a row to sit with your volume control.  "Hey, man, can ya pass that over here a minute?"
