Pop Market question
« on: 23 Nov 2012, 02:31 pm »
I just received a 4 180g LP bundle of remastered CTI jazz titles - George Benson, Stanley Turrentine etc.. that were offered on Pop Market for $39.99 shipped.  Good deal I thought but when I opened the albums to check them out, every album(both sides) had scuffs/scratches & fingerprints on it.  Has anyone experienced this with Pop Market?  Two of the albums were also warped. I sent them an email and they refunded my entire purchase price and said I could keep the albums. It almost seems that they are aware of this and hope people just don't complain.  Any similar experience with them?

Thx
Tony

I have had no issues with vinyl from popmarket. And goodness knows, I've dropped a fair amount of coin with them this past year!!!

I've had nothing but good experiences with them as well. Love my gatefold Tool Laturalus. I would use them again and recommend them.

Hi Tony,

It was great meeting you and your wife at RMAF. I have ordered lots of vinyl from Pop Market (probably not as much as Paul :green:), and so far have never had a problem. I'm assuming they were sealed so the scuffs and fingerprints sound like a pressing plant issue.

Hope you otherwise had a great Thanksgving

I ordered that same bundle on the 6th of November and tracking info says it will finally arrive here next week. I will let you know if mine is in the same condition as yours when it gets here.

FWIW, the Rolling Stones double LP I recently received from Pop Market had a badly damaged cover on the top left corner because of poor packaging. Soundstage Direct and even Amazon take better care in packing Lps than Pop Market does. Also, there is a minimum three week delivery time from Pop Market to my house, which is no big deal except after all that waiting I would like the record cover to be undamaged. Oh well, easy come easy go.

Hi Laura, we enjoyed meeting you too ;)

Thanks for the replies - I hope it's just a fluke - at least I didn't have to hassle with shipping it back.

I ordered from them and never got the package. The tracking info showed it was delivered but I never recieved the package. I contacted them and they sent another, no questions asked.

Well, I finally received my bundle yesterday. The records were packed in a nice box this time, so there was no cover damage....... Yay! :D

I opened all four albums and visually inspected them. No problems that I can see with the naked eye. There was one faint scuff on one album but nothing out of the ordinary.  I only had time to play one album ( the scuffed one) and it sounded fine to me. Maybe next time I order from pop Market I will make sure to order more than one album at a time and that will increase the odds of getting a better shipping box to prevent shipping damage to the corners. Or, maybe I just got a bent up Stones album from them last time because that's the way it was.  :dunno:

All is well.  :thumb:

I received my Hollies vinyl bundle yesterday ad they were shipped in a solid cardboard box designed for record albums. No damage to any of the covers. I have not inspected the albums yet. PopMarket included a return shipping label with a note to email them if I was not 100% satisfied (this has been in every shipment I have received from them).

Thought I should make an update to the scuffing issue.....

I have played a couple of these records several times now, and I noticed that they are more scuffed than when I bought them. I can only guess this is because the sleeves are made out of a tough cardboard-like material, and the simple act of taking the record out and putting it away is causing the scuffs.

I have never purcchased aftermarket sleeves before but now I am considering it. Still learning about vinyl after all these years.... Pretty cool huh?  :D

Got the same package (and several others over the past year) and also noticed some slight scuffing on one or two of the albums. I think Quiet Earth is right about the poor sleeves and I promptly replaced mine (keep a box around for this purpose). But they play fine and are not warped.

I go the Black Sabbath set a awhile back and two of the albums were so warped I couldn't play them (need jumped and skipped). They sent me an entire new set and said keep the original set.

Shipping is not always as timely as you'd like, but I've had a good experience with them overall.
