Minnie Driver...signed to Rounder Records?!

Very strange...actress Minnie Driver just signed to release an album on Rounder Records. Yes, the home of Alison Kraus. Pretty much every artist I know of on Rounder is a newgrass/bluegrass star, but Driver's album is said to be a slightly folkish slice of pop music. Wonder what's up with that?

I didn't realize she could even sing, not that that matters. But if this is a novelty record, Rounder is a weird label to release it.

That does sound strange, so let's make it ever weirder. Minnie was on Conan the other night, where she claimed to live in a trailer next to the sea because only residents were allowed to surf that particular break. So there you go...a Hollywood--folk-singing--trailer living--surfer chick, who looked like she must be about 6'4" standing next to Conan.

She seems a bit high maintenance in interviews...that definitely makes thoughts of Minnie, er, more flaccid.

Saw her on Good Morning America.. not bad at all. She had a Dido meets Pink Floyd thing going, while singing a Cowboy Junkie kinda spaced out torch song thing. Quality work for the most part, I'm just not into the uber depressing songs.
