« on: 18 Nov 2012, 12:40 pm »
I see that the new version (1.9) will be coming this week.  Does anyone know what improvements are coming?

Rob's being coy. Speaking from a position of no real knowledge whatsoever, I think the issue is that he needs to decide which features will hit in 1.9 and which need a bit more baking and so should be held to 1.9.1, which will be coming about a month or so later. But he did say that PM 1.9 will get something like "two dozen new features and improvements". Version 2.0 is still a little ways out.

Pure music users! My demo version runs out in less than 24hrs

Should I get a proper version
or
put the $133 towards a better DAC than my current $50 DAC?

Ivan.

hifimediy usb ess sabre DAC going into my 70's pioneer amp (used as a headphone amp)
budget? trying not to buy anything (trying not to buy anything to an audio guy is like asking a teenage boy not to stare at cleavage ....IT CAN'T BE DONE!)

sounds like the DAC is probably not the weakest link - I generally like to start at the front end first - spring for the Pure Music

I just tried Audirvana. I think I like it more compared to pure music. At first I kept getting popping sounds but that's gone now. With the upsampling it sounds not as harsh as the Pure music upsampling.

why am I upsampling? I think it sounds better on.

Like wise. I downloaded the trial version over the weekend, and came to the same conclusion both with and without up sampling. I still need to listen more, though, before coming to a final conclusion.

I'd still wait for PM 1.9 before making a final decision.  1.9 is supposed to be even better then 1.88a.

Jason, how come you don't use the PM crossover with that MH DAC?
