Quan's SoundScape 8 Center (SS8C)

Quan purchased one of the very first pairs of SoundScape 8's. He had them finished to match his wife's Red Matador Mica Lexus.

A while later, he wanted a center channel to match. But rather than the ported SoundScape center with dual 7" woofers, he wanted a full SoundScape 8 configured in a horizontal format. So we went to work on it.

Here is a picture...

As you can see, we made the dual 12" passive radiators side-firing.

This speaker took quite a while to develop, but turned out very nice. The performance is essentially the same as a standard SoundScape 8 tower and should be a great match in his system.

I like it! I am sure it took quite some work out the passives in that box. Center channel sound should really immerse you with the side firing passives.

I'm torn- I'm glad I didn't know about this before I ordered our SSC, but it sure looks like a perfect complement for the 8's.

Wow - now that's a center channel! Nice work, Jim, and congrats, Quan. I still remember hearing your SS8's while in Jim's shop - the first SS8 speaker I had heard. I'll never forget that audition (neither will my father).

Yeah, after all those month, I am still getting excite everytime when I am listening to the SS8s.

I have the V monster center in my ht setup - a very nice center channel setup

Different drivers and ported but almost a much earlier prototype

Having SS10s at home, I can only imagine what the SS center sounds like

Seems Jim's opening thread picture doesn't do justice to this centers' actual size. Or maybe half of that box is just packing material.

Here it is, screamming in its place. Dimension 14x15x32 (tall,depth,wide). This is sure not the biggest center out there but I am sure it has to be one of the haviest center speaker in the world. ( weight must be somewhere 100-120lbs). So far, I think J & D really nail this design. I could not clearly hear any different between this monster and the SS8s. So are they perfect match? I am very sure saying that they are 99.9% match. Thank you DM, Jim and his screw for designing and making this MONSTER.
